The Lebanese Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (LIFE) established a peace forum in order to promote dialogue and peaceful resolution of conflicts. In order to do so, LIFE managed seminars between different political parties and communities.
LIFE held a series of workshops around the art of negotiation and conflict resolution. Our Institute didn’t just do theoretical workshops, but included as well field practices where the cadres of LIFE moved several times to conflict areas in Syria and worked on problems solving through negotiations under extremely dangerous conditions. LIFE succeeded in reaching a cease-fire agreement, in opening humanitarian corridors, in releasing hostages and in sealing many deals around exchange of prisoners and freeing political prisoners.
LIFE believes that dialogue is essential in resolving any disputes through peaceful means which provides communities lasting peace and avoids sharp conflicts and wars.
